ABOUT RACHEL E. MEYER

The Quick Bio

Rachel Meyer is a YA speculative fiction author currently querying her first novel.

The Long Bio

I wrote my first full-length novel in high school. It was a 50k retelling of The Frog Prince, written entirely on loose-leaf notebook paper. That story has since been retired, never to see the light of day. But I’ll never forget holding it in my hands and deciding this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

Now I write my novels in a color-coded Scrivener project rather than on lined paper, but I still have the same passion for writing as I did at 16. God gave me a wonderful gift, and I plan to use it to the best of my ability.

When I’m not typing away, I read books, watch movies, or create art. I’m a Christian in the Reformed church, the oldest of six, and I live in Maryland.

A Few More Fun Facts:

•I’m a former homeschooler and proud

•I love cats

•My favorite color is red

•I will always go for chocolate over fruit candy

•I’m a huge Tolkien nerd with a goal of reading every book he wrote

Why I Write

I write books to share light and hope with teenagers. While my stories do contain darkness, I leave my readers with hope because there’s always hope, even in the worst situations.

What You’ll Find in My Books:
•Clean content. No sex, minimal cursing, and no gore or horror elements.
•Happy endings almost every time.
•Female characters that defy the “strong female character” archetype.
•Libraries, both magical and regular.
•Ride or die friendships.
•A strong dose of whimsey.
